In the 1950s and 1960s, Americans had more leisure time and found themselves entertaining more. Cocktail parties were on the list. Party Sophisitkits, right, was a line of coordinated party accessories that included ashtrays, party picks, napkins, matchbooks, coasters and stirrers.
Coordinated looks were growing in popularity in the 1960s. Tabletop manufacturer Rosenthal advertised its Romantic Modern pattern as a "co-ordinated table ensemble."
Mod designs were also on the rise in the mid-1960s. The Psychedelic portrait poster featured a cool pattern for hip pads.
