White Plains, NY -- Environmentally friendly products are on the top of everyone’s list. And this summer the topic will be highlighted at the New York International Gift Fair, (NYIGF) August 11 – 16. Sustainability: Design for a Better World is a curated exhibit and educational seminar that will highlight vendors whose products or production processes are environmentally friendly, as well as companies whose corporate philosophies are socially responsible, philanthropic or fair-trade oriented. “This subject is of increasing importance to consumers worldwide and it is imperative that gift and home industry suppliers understand the issues, the challenges and the opportunities,” said Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and GLM senior vice president.
The educational seminar will be held on Monday, August 13, and will be moderated by Susan S. Szenasy, editor of Metropolis Magazine. It will feature a panel of designers, manufacturers, retailers and educators, including Enrico Bressan, co-founder and president, Artecnica; Clare Brett Smith, president emerita, Aid to Artisans and Tony Whitfield, chair, Product Design Department, Parsons School of Art and Design. The talk will cover the concept, trace the design, production marketing and sales cycle of commercially viable sustainable design. Tickets are $20.
