Oddity Gives Retailers Free Web Stores

By Staff -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 7/1/2007 1:12:00 PM

Pottsville, PA — Oddity Inc. will provide pre-built Web stores to its wholesale customers free of charge. The home decor and candle accessories vendor will maintain the online shopping sites, process orders and payments and drop ship the products directly to consumers.

Scott Williams, president of Oddity, told Gifts & Dec that the system allows the company to reach the many consumers who wrote in looking to buy online, without competing with the company's "bread and butter" wholesale customers. "It just dawned on me, let's pay them instead of competing with them," he said.

For linking to the site, the stores program pays the retailer a scaled commission, with a minimum of 10 percent. "Which, if you think about it, is probably more net profit than most gift stores make," said Williams. "It falls directly to their bottom line. They have no associated expenses." Stores that already have a Web shop of their own can choose instead to participate in Oddity's new drop shipping program, which charges $3.50 per order.

An Oddity customer who already has a web presence can be up and running in one or two days. Retailers with websites that feature Oddity products can submit their links online to be featured in the company’s consumer Find Us On the Web page.
