How to display fashion accents with style

Customers are pretty predictable. A store can have the most gorgeous vases, a fabulous selection of candles, divine ceramics and terrific tableware — yet what do shoppers always cluck and coo over? Jewelry, hats, bags and scarves!
Fashion accessories are a quick pick-me-up for many women (as well as some men) because they're affordable wardrobe enhancers and the ultimate gift for a friend whose size shoppers may prefer not to ask. As a woman who's never been able to wear clothing seen on the cast of Friends, I often receive and appreciate accessories as gifts.
As a storeowner, however, I find it difficult to display these varied items in a way that works with the overall look and feel of the store. One fun idea is to create levels in the caseline with soft pillows. Pillows mimic human curves and can be purchased or made in an endless variety of colors and shapes. Buy pillows in seasonal color combinations to give a fresh feel to the caseline every season.
But remember: It's about the jewelry, not the pillows! They're on the caseline to display the jewelry, not to catch the customer's eyes in their own right. Here are some other creative ways to make sure small but special items stand out.
