Mama Mia Opens in Atlanta

By Staff -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 9/25/2007 12:41:00 PM

Atlanta — Mama Mia, a new children’s showroom at AmericasMart Atlanta, is the first of many national showrooms to be opened by Leslie Head, co-founder of TeePeeForMe and Suzanne Longacre, founder of Suzibella. The grand opening will be held during the Atlanta Apparel Market, October 13–16.

The showroom offers a variety of children’s product from different manufacturers. Head and Longacre plan to open showrooms in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Dallas, as well as exhibit in temporary shows, including ABC in Las Vegas and the New York International Gift Fair.

“Regardless of which city buyers decide to visit, they will be able to patronize a familiar showroom. The familiarity will make traveling to another market less stressful, since customers will be comfortable in our showroom whether in Dallas, Los Angeles or Chicago,” said Head.

To celebrate the opening, Mama Mia partnered with the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Each company in the showroom donated products to a silent auction that will be held during the Pink Tie Ball, a gala fundraiser for the Komen Foundation. In addition, five percent of all orders written during the October Children’s Market in Atlanta will be donated on the customer’s behalf.

A subset of the eco message is the call to arms for consumers to use their own bags when shopping. Sturdy reusable shopping totes were much in evidence as an eco-fashion statement.

Gifts & Decorative Accessories previously noted the widespread presence of peacocks & peacock-related motifs on tabletop, home décor & other gift items. In stationery, it’s not just peacocks, but birds of all feathers.
