Sikalis Named Global Biz VP

By Staff -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 9/25/2007 3:03:00 PM

White Plains, NY — George Little Management LLC (GLM) named Penny Sikalis vice president of Global Business Development, where she will “give strategic direction to the company’s global growth.” Specifically, Sikalis will be responsible for developing and maintaining high level contacts with international government agencies and trade promotions organizations, as well as managing sales agents worldwide.

“With so much international experience in the home textiles industry, Penny Sikalis is the perfect candidate to take on this challenge,” said Alan Steel, executive vice president of GLM. “Concentrating her focus on the international area will play an important part in building GLM’s Global Home Decor and Global Home Textiles shows, and … will maximize GLM’s overall global position.”

While Sikalis’ chief role will be to build and manage relationships with international stakeholders, the broader purpose of the appointment is to offer a single point person within the company, acting as a key resource for global contacts relevant to the industries GLM serves. Sikalis will continue to serve as v.p./show manager for Global Home Textiles and Global Home Decor, and v.p./group show manager for SURTEX.

  • Doubletake- Stationery: Eco Totes
A subset of the eco message is the call to arms for consumers to use their own bags when shopping. Sturdy reusable shopping totes were much in evidence as an eco-fashion statement.
  • Doubletake-Stationery: Birds
Gifts & Decorative Accessories previously noted the widespread presence of peacocks & peacock-related motifs on tabletop, home décor & other gift items. In stationery, it’s not just peacocks, but birds of all feathers.
