9/5 TIA announces new safety efforts, says supports stronger testing standards
9/5 AP reports that the European Union may ban Chinese goods, including toys, if it fails to  comply with health and safety standards by October.
9/11 China says it will end lead paint use in exports to U.S., increase its inspections of consumer products destined for the U.S. and assist CPSC in tracing hazardous products to the manufacturer, distributor and exporter.
9/11 The Associated Press reports that Brazil has banned Mattel toy imports until the government can verify that the company is abiding by local safety regulations.
9/12 Mattel apologies to Congress on recalls, says supports federal toy testing mandate
9/12 London-based ToyNews reports that China has revoked the export  licenses of about 300 toymakers, closed about 2,000 unlicensed factories and banned lead paint entirely for use in U.S. toy exports.
