Decorative Accessories

'Anything goes' has been the trend in decorative accessories for years, with a mixture of styles, colors and eras setting the trend. Opulence also continues at the forefront of many collections, with crystal, glass and mirrored accents used to create an old-Hollywood look modernized with color and texture.
Many of the latest designs feature clean, modern lines. Not quite minimalist, this look offers a touch of nature that fits in a country home or an urban setting. This return to casual environments presents an alternative to opulence while maintaining a certain level of chicness. Natural woods and other textures add tactile and visual appeal. Western-inspired accessories feature horses, leather and masculine styles.
In terms of color, black and white continue strong, with some changes in complementary colors. This season saw red and yellow accents, with metallics coming on next year. Expect to see pillows, lamps and other accessories in striking gold, silver and copper.
As elsewhere, one of the big pushes in the category is Green product. Show producers now make a point of creating special sections highlighting earth-friendly product, and manufacturers are looking for ways to become more eco-conscious not only with their product, but with packaging and shipping as well.
