As Good As It Gets

After 17 years as associate publisher of a national bridal magazine and 10 years at a home furnishings trade pub, I needed to recharge. So I took the summer off! I traveled to many parts of our country, saw the sights and spent wonderful afternoons wandering through gift stores.

When my friends asked about potential new employment, I consistently answered, “The perfect job is going to fall into my lap.” Well it did. The phone rang, an offer was made and I landed my “perfect job.” I am the new publisher of Gifts & Decorative Accessories, which means I get to wander through gift stores for a living. How great is that!

I am honored to take over the reins at Gifts & Dec. It is a magazine with a long and respected history — 90 years to be exact — and one that continues to lead the way, playing an integral role in the gift business. Its online kid sister, giftsandec.com, offers the most innovative Web products in the industry, allowing for a real conversation with our readers.

Plus, I have talented co-workers. In our New York offices, our team is comprised of an amazing, award-winning edit staff. The editors know the market and its categories, understand their readers and are committed to delivering the best editorial product possible. In our Greensboro offices, I found talented, enthusiastic production, marketing and promotions professionals, not to mention old-fashioned Southern hospitality. Lastly, I inherited a terrific sales team — and I can't wait to work with each and every team member.

So, yes… I have found my perfect job.
