GLM Presents Toronto International Gift Fair

Staff -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 3/1/2001

George Little Management LLC (GLM) announced changes to the summer 2001 Toronto Gift Show, including a name change, site relocation, shift in date pattern, and the implementation of new special sections. Effective August 2001, the show will be called the Toronto International Gift Fair (TIGF), and will relocate to the Metro Toronto Convention Center, South Building, a state-of-the-art facility in downtown Toronto. The fair will move from its current July dates to an August 11-14 schedule, allowing it to run at the same time as the Canadian Gift and Tableware Association Gift Show in Toronto. As part of the new TIGF format, GLM will introduce four new special sections-Accent on Design Canada, At Home, Handmade, and Personal Style. In addition, the American Pavilion will debut featuring new products from companies interested in exporting to the Canadian market. To promote the new fair, GLM will present a "Focus on Toronto" display at the New York International Gift Fair and the California Gift Show this summer, offering a preview of the Toronto market. GLM will manage the TIGF on behalf of DMG World Media.

  • Doubletake- Stationery: Going for the Green
The Green message was delivered loud and clear across all product categories. The stationery industry is really embracing the concept and helping to move it forward. And the best thing about the new “green”? It doesn’t look it!
  • Doubletake- Stationery: Eco Totes
A subset of the eco message is the call to arms for consumers to use their own bags when shopping. Sturdy reusable shopping totes were much in evidence as an eco-fashion statement.
  • Doubletake-Stationery: Birds
Gifts & Decorative Accessories previously noted the widespread presence of peacocks & peacock-related motifs on tabletop, home décor & other gift items. In stationery, it’s not just peacocks, but birds of all feathers.
