Floral Focus at Holiday Expo
Staff -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 3/1/2001
Dallas-The fifth annual Holiday Expo show took place from January 13 to 16 in conjunction with the Dallas International Gift and Home Accessories Market. The showcase for permanent and fresh flowers, holiday trim, and related decorative accessories was held in the International Floral Design Center and was produced by the Dallas Market Center and endorsed by the American Flower Importers Association. "Conclave," an educational conference held the day before the show, featured seminars on how to recruit and train quality employees and on European design trends in fresh flowers. Floral designer Matt Wood concluded the day with his "Getting Real" program, which examined the botanical correctness movement in the permanent floral industry. (This topic was the subject of "Flower Power," the cover story of Gifts & Dec's February 2001 issue.) In other flower-related news, Phase 2 of the Dallas Market Center's Garden District opened for the January shows, adding 25,000 square feet of permanent showroom space for manufacturers of garden and garden-themed products.
