Hats Off to Green
Gardening and fragrance come together in an eco-focused display
By Melissa Haberstroh -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 3/1/2008
Sometimes, cross merchandising in a display is easiest when there is a clear “jumping off point,” where core product in the display has a great story. Paddywax's new line of eco-sensitive candles offers just that type of platform. The candles are packaged in a paper pulp box, and customers are encouraged to reduce packaging waste by filling the biodegradable box with soil and seeds, and planting it in the garden after spring's last frost.
While I haven't seen clear indication that our customers have jumped on the “Green” bandwagon as yet, we do know that they like to garden — and they love home fragrance. Bringing two of their favorites together in one display should capture some attention.
