Housewares Charity Raises $1.7 Million

Rosemont, IL — The Housewares Charity Foundation (HCF) raised approximately $1.7 million at its 11th annual gala last month, during the 2008 International Home + Housewares Show. The gala benefited the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and hunger prevention group America’s Second Harvest. Since 1998, HCF contributed more than $6 million to the BCRF .More than 700 people attended the event, which also honored Thierry de LaTour d'Artaise, chairman and CEO, Groupe SEB, with the HCF’s Lifetime Humanitarian Award; Renee Behnke, president emeritus, Sur La Table, as Humanitarian of the Year and Burton Tansky, chairman and CEO of The Neiman Marcus Group Inc., with the inaugural Design and Fashion Leadership Award.
