Double Take: 2009 REA gala

On Sunday evening, August 16, representatives from all walks of the gift industry came together at New York’s Marriott Marquis for Gifts & Decorative Accessories’ 53rd annual Retailer Excellence Awards gala. A cocktail hour allowed attendees to mix and mingle before dinner and the award presentations.
The evening was a grand affair held to recognize and honor the achievements of gift retailers in store design, visual merchandising, marketing and Internet innovation. But the evening did not belong to retailers alone. Honors also recognized an Industry Rising Star and a retailer-nominated Manufacturers’ Rep.
And new this year, Gift for Life, the gift industry’s charity partner, presented its Industry Achievement Award at the gala. Gift for Life honored Bobbie Gottlieb of Two’s Company for her 40 years of contribution to the industry.
