Licensing 2001 International, the 21st annual trade show for consumer product licensing, marketing, and merchandising, is shaping up, according to its organizers, to break all records set at past licensing shows when the event comes to New York's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, June 12–14. "All facets of the business world are realizing the impact of licensing," noted Diane Stone, group show director for Advanstar Communications Inc., producers of the Licensing Show.
Across more than 275,000 square feet, exhibitors will showcase over 4,000 properties in every category of consumer products, with Nickelodeon, Sesame Workshop, Universal Studios Consumer Products, and Warner Bros. Consumer Products headlining the entertainment category. General Motors, Kelloggs, Mattel, and Time Inc. will represent corporate licensing, while Notara, IPNetwork.com, and WhatsHotNow.com will be among the dot-com companies highlighted at the show. Once again, the art and design category will be featured in the Art and Design Licensing Gallery, which consists of 180 booths this year, up from 121 in 2000. Other categories represented at the Licensing Show are sports, children's properties, publishing, and not-for-profit organizations. Featured events will include a comprehensive seminar series and the presentation of annual industry awards.
Licensing 2001 is sponsored by the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association (LIMA), a worldwide trade association with over 1,100 members in 25 countries.
