Roman Inc. Cuts 24 Jobs
Roselle, IL — Collectibles manufacturer Roman Inc. eliminated 24 jobs at the company's corporate headquarters. According to Roman, the move is a direct result of industry-wide softness in sales of gifts and collectibles, and follows an aggressive three-month effort to cut every non-salary expenditure. The company said that after 36 consecutive years of growth, the family-owned business is projecting a second straight year of decline.
Adam Gold Moves to The Coastal Group
New York — The Coastal Group, a full-service advertising agency, catalog producer, and Web site designer, appointed Adam Gold executive vice president for new business development. Gold leaves Giftware Business trade magazine where he served as publishing director. Apart from an 18-month absence, Gold was with Giftware Business since 1993. In his new position, he will head up a staff of eight salespeople.
Antioch Acquires Roxbury Bookmarks
Yellow Springs, OH — Antioch Publishing acquired the Bookmark Division of Roxbury Twain Publishing, including over 250 SKUs of bookmark designs. Antioch will retain the majority of Roxbury's field sales force in the United States, and began shipping existing orders to Roxbury customers on April 23.
