Pat Cockrell Markets Own Brand

Staff -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 6/1/2001

Burlington, NC — Pat Cockrell, artist and co-founder of Riddle & Cockrell, will launch her own business to license her art and designs to home accent and gift manufacturers. She will continue to develop product for Riddle & Cockrell under a six-year agreement, but will give up her equity position and partnership in the company. In 1998, she introduced the Pat Cockrell Signature Collection of shaped pillows for Riddle & Cockrell. "After being approached over the past years by other manufacturers wanting to license my art, I decided it was time to branch out and build on the Pat Cockrell brand," she said. Riddle & Cockrell's CEO Tim Riddle said, "We are saddened that [Pat] is leaving, but are very excited that she has this opportunity to bring her design skills to the marketplace while continuing to provide us with substantial product development."

  • Doubletake- Stationery: Eco Totes
A subset of the eco message is the call to arms for consumers to use their own bags when shopping. Sturdy reusable shopping totes were much in evidence as an eco-fashion statement.
  • Doubletake-Stationery: Birds
Gifts & Decorative Accessories previously noted the widespread presence of peacocks & peacock-related motifs on tabletop, home décor & other gift items. In stationery, it’s not just peacocks, but birds of all feathers.
