Burns spark Easy-Bake Oven recall
By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, February 6, 2007
WASHINGTON—Hasbro is recalling approximately 985,000 Easy-Bake Ovens because of reports of children getting their hands caught in them, some incidents of which led to the children receiving burns.
Hasbro announced the voluntary recall today in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The toymaker is asking consumers to immediately take the recalled oven away from children under 8 years of age and contact the firm for a retrofit kit. Hasbro has received 29 reports of children getting their hands or fingers caught in the oven’s opening, including five reports of burns.
The version of the Easy-Bake Oven recalled is a purple and pink plastic oven that resembles a kitchen range with four burners on top and a front-loading oven. It is model number 65805. The recall only applies to those toys sold from May 2006 to February 2007.
Consumers should contact Hasbro at (800) 601-8418 to receive a free retrofit kit with consumer warning.
