Happy New Year
January 3, 2008

I have been holding on to this card meaning to write something about it since it was first released in mid-2007. It is a part of the Naughty Betty line from Calypso Cards , and is intended as a New Year’s card. It is naturally appropriate to write about now as we begin a new year, but I have felt that it is perfect to send at any time of the year; it also makes a perfect birthday card or “just because” card to say “hello”. What I love about it is its tongue-in cheek, irreverent humor. The greeting inside the card reads:

LET’S JUST RESOLVE
TO BE OUR
FABULOUS
SLIGHTLY IMPERFECT SELVES

One of the things that struck a chord within me when I first read this card was how it meshed with the theme of the notecard that I used to launch this blog (i.e the notecard by Verbatem introducing “The Fabulous Caroline Kennedy”). Although at the time, I denied being truly fabulous, I claimed to have my moments. And that is what this card is all about. We each in our own way are fabulous, and the resolve to be the most fabulous that we can be, even though we are not perfect, is the best resolve to have in the New Year and at any time; we should always strive to just be ourselves in the best way that we can and accept the fact that we are not always perfect. It is the goal of perfection that gives us the impetus to improve and keep on moving forward.

What more can we ask?
