Hot Fashion Color: Think Brunch

No sooner had we printed the color forecast and noted particular colors to watch for, when Pantone sent out an e-blast declaring "Move over Blue Iris! Here Comes Mimosa!" Blue Iris is one of the directional colors coming out of the fashion apparel fall forecast. And we have seen a lot of it and its related hues of purple in apparel this season. And there are elements of it showing in home decor. Mimosa, a warm, sunny yellow, reminiscent of those orange juice and champagne cocktails that we so enjoy at Sunday brunches, is a directional color for spring and Pantone’s color of the year for 2009. We saw quite a bit of this warm yellow around the recent Atlanta market and we will be seeing more of it as we move into spring. And just today, Pantone announced that Gap will be featuring a full Pantone palette of colors on its collection of tees, including a limited edition one featuring Mimosa. Of course, none of this means to go and throw out all of your Blue Iris. After all, purple and yellow are complements and will work well together. Cheers! Enjoy your Mimosas! I will enjoy mine!
