The Medium's Message

March 11, 2009

I just received an email message from one of the many marketing people with whom I/we deal on a regular basis. The message came from Andy Sturtevant of Sellers Publishing,to let me know about the good plug that one of their books, Boomer Yoga, received in today’s USA Today and provided a link to the article

The article struck a chord with me — and I hope that it does with you. The overall message is so appropriate for today and every day: Take a deep breath, Exhale, Relax. You’ll feel better, in spite of everything.

It’s something that I have to tell myself on a regular basis, especially when things start getting to me and I feel my blood pressure begin to rise. We have to remember to relax and take time for ourselves. This is an issue that I’ve talked about before.  I don’t do yoga … yet. As you may know, I dance. And I had just returned to my desk from a dance lesson, when I got the email; so the message was even more aptly received.

I, like the writer, have been recently thinking about taking up yoga — for the relaxation benefits, to improve my flexibility, reduce stress and gain whatever other benefits I can glean from doing it. (Carving out the time and disciplining myself to stick with it , well that’s another matter.)

But the key thing is the main message for these trying times: Take a deep breath, Exhale, Relax. You’ll feel better, in spite of everything.

Thanks, Andy.
