For God’s Sakes, Somebody Give This Man a Job

November 19, 2008

Not a picture of Paul NawrockiThere is a former toy industry employee named Paul Nawrocki who is looking for a job. How do I know, because his job search made it into BusinessWeek

In her November 11, 2008 BusinessWeek blog, “Buddy Can You Spare a Job?” Monica Gagnier spends five pages and 1823 words interviewing Nawrocki. The blog has, as of November 15, received more than 30 responses of which 4 are from Nawrocki. These responses from Nawrocki are brilliant because it gives him even more exposure.

How did Nawrocki catch the eye of BusinessWeek about his employment dilemma? He walked around outside Grand Central Station in New York wearing a sandwich board.  That’s how he did it.

It takes guts and desperation and a temporary suspension of pride to walk around town in a signboard. It does, however, get you some attention.

I say good for Nawrocki for thinking outside of the box. He says his last job was as Vice President of Operations for Sababa. I say, for God’s sake, somebody get this man off the street and give him a job…as a marketing manager.

Paul Nawrocki commented:

Dear Mr. Gottlieb, Thank you for your support. I hope something comes of this. I also want to thank you for the promotion. You list me as Vice President of Operations, but I was only Director of Operations. Could I have a virtual bonus (equal at least to the $480K spa retreat the manangers at AIG got after their bailout)? LOL Anyway, I do thank you and hope someone is listening. Many Thanks, Paul
