Good news: Toy Fair attendance on the upswing
November 24, 2009
I had a chance to talk the folks at the TIA and they tell me that year to date attendance figures for the coming Toy Fair are running ahead of last year. Not just running ahead but running significantly ahead.
There are currently 6,303 registered buyers signed up, that is an increase of 10%. Those buyers represent 3.078 retail outlets, an increase of 11%.
I see this as a possible leading indicator of how the toy industry is going to do this Christmas season. Why, because if buyers are ready to spend dollars to come to New York it must mean they anticipate having the dollars to spend and that they will be around next year. It also means they expect 2010 to be a better year.
See you at Toy Fair!
