Good news for everybody! Zhu Zhu Pets is a hit

Every few years a hit toy emerges that is so popular that it drives shoppers into toy departments and toy stores. These crazes are hard to predict but when they do occur they are great news for everyone from retailers to competing manufacturers.

If things keep up, it appears that Zhu Zhu Pets is positioned to join Beanie Babies and Webkinz in the pantheon of hot, hit toys. These motorized mini hamsters drive around in little cars, run through mazes and do other cute stuff all without the risk of escaping their cages and climbing onto someone’s chest in the middle of the night and scaring him to death (as happened to this blogger on an evening to be forgotten.)

How popular are they? I am told that Toys R Us is running through a 4 foot section in an hour and a half and that with a limit of four Zhu Zhu Pets per customer. This could not come at a better time. Pray that that the school yard social network keeps talking and that Zhu Zhu Pets continues its climb to stardom. If it does, this could be a better Christmas season that we thought.

They're red hot here in the UK too. They are sold by Character Options under the brand name 'Go Go Pets' in the UK, but the result is the same; I'm told they're flying off the shelves.

I think seeing the popularity rise of the Zhu Zhu pets is a good sign for retailers, consumers and prospective employees. Hopefully this will be the beginning of the economy picking up. I also hope to see a few more products will pick up steam for the holiday season. www.dahliatranslations.com
