The toy industry is optimistic about 2009 (at least pretty much so)

October 2, 2009

undefinedThere is optimism in the air. Ast least that is what I discovered from a  survey I conducted of a select group of people representing different aspects of the toy industry.  I sent the following question out to CEO’s,  inventors, salespeople and other members of Toy Nation.

My Outlook for the second half of 2009 is __________________

·         Optimistic

·         Moderately optimistic

·         Neutral

·         Moderately pessimistic

·         Pessimistic

To my pleasant surprise, 2/3 of respondents were either optimistic or moderately optimistic.  The rest were either neutral or moderately pessimistic.  No one was pessimistic.

My take away is that the worst of the economy is behind us and that animal spirits are returning.  Whether this will translate into some risk taking with exciting new products in 2010 is something we are going to begin to see in the coming weeks as companies reveal their plans for 2010 in Dallas.

Whatever the case, it is nice to see the sun shining again in Toy Nation.
