Test driving the Step 2 “Push Around Buggy”

May 2, 2010

So I am standing on the corner in midtown Manhattan waiting for the “Don’t Walk” sign to turn to “Walk” when I see these two women walking side by side (almost in formation), pushing identical Step 2 “Push Around Buggies” and heading right towards me.

I got out of the way just in time but, being the perennial toy guy, I had to ask them how they liked their buggies. Well, they didn’t. It seems that like certain makes of cars, the Step 2 “Push Around Buggy” may not have been made with the streets and sidewalks of New York City in mind.   What was the problem; it seems that the hard plastic tires were too loud on the concrete sidewalks and too bumpy on the cobble stone streets. They wanted a better ride.

So, Step 2, think about a “New Yorker” addition with a better suspension and rubber tires. You can charge for the quality and probably get it. Consumer reporter Gottlieb signing out.

Effective May 1, 2010, I am launching a new website called Global Toy News. I am doing this so that you can have an alternative way of finding my blog. I plan to continue writing for Playthings and Gift & Decorative Accessories but want to make sure that you can always find me…Come visit!
