More predictions for the second half of 2009
In my last blog, I spoke about the optimism voiced in my survey of toy industry leaders. As I reported in that posting, 2/3 of respondents were either optimistic or moderately optimistic about the second half of 2009.
But how do they think toy industry sales will look in the second half of the year? Well here is how I framed the question:
The US toy market was down 3% in 2008 and down 2% for the first half of 2009. What percentage do you think the industry will be up (+) or down (-) in the second half of 2009 versus the second half of 2008?
As you can imagine, we had a range of responses. When I averaged out all the responses, it came to an anticipated increase of 1.25% for the second half of the year. This was in line with an earlier prediction I had made of a 1% increase in toy industry revenues for the second half of the year.
How do you feel about the second half of 2009? Let us know.
