Practical Site Navigation

In the world of retail, every merchant, whether they are brick-and-mortar or ecommerce site, wants their store to be welcoming to customers and easy for them to find their way around to view the merchandise. This is even more important for the virtual merchant who does not have the friendly sales associate to answer the question, "Where may I find …?" or "Do you have …?"  Easy and practical navigation is key to a successful ecommerce site to draw and keep customers. Navigation should be usable, understandable, searchable, accessible to people with disabilities, and it should tell or show shoppers where they are on the site.
