Gifts & Dec Direct

Here's the news for the week of March 10, 2008.

HOW ARE WE DOING?

We really want to know, and ask you to please spend just a few minutes to answer our survey and tell us.

Tell us what you like about Gifts & Decorative Accessories magazine and what we could do better. And tell us a little bit about yourself too (all answers strictly confidential). For each survey we receive, Gifts & Dec will contribute $1 -- up to $1,000 -- to Gift For Life, the industry's charity supporting AIDS research.

Just click here to take the survey and contribute $1 to Gift For Life!

Thank you!

7. Your 2 Cents Worth
Gifts & Dec readers are an independent bunch — only to be expected of so many independent retailers! Almost one fifth (18.6 percent) save for retirement all on their own, and 27.91 percent save both on their own and through their companies. Another 18.6 percent save just through work. A hearty 11.63 percent plan never to retire (the many familiar faces we still see at gift shows seem to reinforce the popularity of this choice). Sadly, 23.26 percent save for retirement only “in their dreams.” Maybe the time has come for an industry savings program through one of the trade associations?

In the meantime, dream on, and share those dreams with us… vote in this week’s poll.
