LOUIE Finalists Announced

Washington, DC — The Greeting Card Association (GCA) announced the finalists for the 18th annual International Greeting Card Awards competition, better known as the LOUIEs. This year’s competition, themed “tiny masterpieces,” drew 1,100 entries in 55 categories from approximately 160 international publishing companies. Every card submitted for the competition was marketed and sold in the U.S. during the 2005 calendar year.

“The companies named as LOUIE finalists demonstrate the artistic talent and originality that comprise our industry’s unique products, which are in many ways tiny masterpieces,” said GCA President Don French of Paper Magic Group, Scranton, PA.

LOUIE Award judging took place at the Hotel Washington on January 26–28. Winners in every category will be revealed at the LOUIE celebration in the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers during the National Stationery Show in New York.

The event, which takes place on May 22 from 6:30–10 p.m., will feature a viewing of all LOUIE finalists along with an awards presentation and cocktail buffet. The evening will be capped off with the announcement of two “Card of the Year” winners (Above $3, and $3 & Below), as well as the Judge’s Choice award for the best overall card of the year.
