As high gas prices keep vacationers closer to home, spas are becoming an increasingly popular indulgence for middle class consumers. According to the International Spa Association's 2004 report (the most recent year for which statistics are available), about 45 million Americans visited a spa in that year, and 9 out of 10 who went once said they planned to go back.
