Fundraising for AIDS Walk NY Continues

Gift for Life, a charitable organization made up of volunteers from the gift and home industry, is asking for donations to support AIDS awareness and relief.

Gift for Life is asking for donations for AIDS Walk New York; patrons have until June 11 to donate.

June is Pride Month and Gift for Life is doing its part by continuing to ask for donations for AIDS Walk New York, a cause dear to the community. For the last nine years Gift for Life has raised funds and walked in support of AIDS Walk New York, one of the world’s largest and most visible AIDS/HIV fundraising events, and this year the board is once again asking for support from the gift and home industry. Although the virtual event took place on May 16, patrons have until June 11 to make their final donations by visiting the team’s fundraising page. Donations benefit GMHC and dozens of other tri-state area AIDS service organizations.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is still in effect and the need for our help is even more vital to assist those individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS.”

To date, the team has raised just over $34,000, after a $7,500 match from NY NOW. The team’s goal is $35,000.

NY NOW created a podcast in collaboration with the Gift for Life board that tells the story behind GFL and what it means to its board members. Lenise Willis, editor in chief of Gifts & Decorative Accessories, was just one of the included interviews. Click here to listen to the podcast.

“NY NOW is above all a gift and home community event and we do what we can to support the community in good times as well as more challenging,” said Tim Hart, SVP of NY NOW. “On this occasion, we are thrilled to be able to match all donations made to the Gift for Life/NY NOW/DIFFA team participating in AIDS Walk New York up to $7,500. HIV/AIDS is an issue close to the heart of the NY NOW team and we are excited to continue the fundraising push.”

On Gift for Life’s fundraising page, the group states: “The COVID-19 pandemic is still in effect and the need for our help is even more vital to assist those individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS. We appreciate all the support we can get and with your support and the pledge from NY NOW we can get there together and make a difference!”
